Our Gospel communities are called GOSPEL communities because the Gospel of Jesus Christ is central to everything we are and do as a church. For by the grace of God in the Gospel of Jesus Christ we have been saved through faith and have been given four new identities in Jesus: FAMILY, DISCIPLES, SERVANTS and MISSIONARIES.
Our Gospel communities are designed to provide an intentional space for our congregation to be able to gather together as family, grow together as disciples of Jesus and go together as Spirit filled missionaries – to make disciples of Jesus Christ. They are generally made up of 6-12 adults with children always welcome.
Our Gospel Communities are not for perceived “super Christians” – or “the evangelists”. They are for everyone young and old, seeking or new to walking with Christ – because we are all called to grow in Christ and we are all called to live out and share our faith. If you need help in these areas – you are not alone – and this is why the church as a whole exists.
Listen to Paul’s heart in ministry from Colossians 1.28-29: “[Christ] we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”
Our Gospel Communities seek to live into this reality by gathering every other week (generally on the First and Third Weeks of the Month) from the Fall until Spring to respond and apply the preaching of the gospel to their lives together, to pray together, to share meals together, to spur one another on in our discipleship to Jesus, and to make Jesus known in Gravenhurst and Muskoka.
Our Gospel Community groups will begin meeting the week of Sesptember 21st. If you would like to be part of a Gospel Community group, please click on the button below to sign up. For more information please email Pastor Josh: josh@calvarygravenhurst.com
