If you have missed our email in the summer, we are pleased to share with you new programming for a women's bible study!

Instead of meeting once monthly, we are having a few large events throughout the year, and two sessions for the bible study: Fall 2025 (October 7 to November 25) and Winter 2026 (mid-January to mid-March).  The study will run Tuesday mornings, from 9:30-11am. The fall and winter sessions will be different, and not contiguous, so it is possible to sign up in the winter only and not have "missed" anything with regards to the study. New this year, we will also be providing childcare for those who need it during the bible study.

Coffee and childcare open at 9:15am, and study will start promptly at 9:30am, and finish at 11am.  We will be respectful of everyone's time, and hold firm to the start and end times.

Our fall study is "From Beginning to Forever: A Study of the Grand Narrative of Scripture" by Elizabeth Woodsen.  This study is on the overarching story of the bible "from a fifty-thousand foot level, using the theme of kingdom to connect all the pieces of the story together."

There are 8 sessions, clearly laid out in the study book.  There is approximately 15 minutes of homework to complete 5 days of the week so you are prepared for meeting together.  (There is no homework to complete before our first session.)  The flow of meeting together will look as follows: open in prayer, break into small groups to discuss the homework from the session, watch the teaching video and take notes, continue in your small group to discuss the teaching video questions, and close in prayer.  Please note: the video isn't just an overview of the homework, so to get the most out of our study and  contribute to your small group, doing the work ahead of time is so very important.

What is the commitment?

This bible study will require you to complete work at home ahead of our meeting times as detailed above (approx 15 minutes per day).  We ask that you also determine if you can commit to attending the majority of the time.  If not, maybe this isn't the right time and the winter session would better suit your availability.  We of course understand that some circumstances cannot be foreseen (or at least not by us!) and we will have grace.  We will be using an arranged small group format, with your group remaining the same throughout the eight weeks.  This will allow women to get to know each other and connect more deeply, while also allowing women to hold each other accountable in a biblical way.

What does childcare look like?

We believe that as a body we are to serve one another, and part of the commitment to this study will include serving one of the eight weeks in childcare.  This way the work is shared, and everyone can still participate in studying God's word together and serving.  We think this is a blessing to our moms of younger children that we as sisters in Christ can all come together to accomplish.

If you are homeschooling and have a youth aged child that is available during this time, we would love to have them help and have planned for a small compensation for their service.  (Of course, for safety we cannot only have youth, so our plan stands as above.)

Can we invite new women to join part way through?

Of course!  If you choose to invite someone new, we will place them in your group.  The book can be ordered individually through Amazon at any time.  Our ask is that you explain we are part-way through this study, and that there is homework to be completed ahead of time.  (Maybe you could even photocopy your pages for the week before they come so they can "try" it out!)    They can access the video content themselves through the link in the back of the book, and even get caught up if they want.  We would never want someone to feel out of place because they weren't aware of these things before coming.

What is the cost?

The cost is $35, which includes your book and helps to cover nominal costs.  We would never want the cost to hinder someone from attending and learning God's word, so we are happy to work with anyone to pay what you can.  This information is included in the sign up form as well, but please contact Angela@calvarygravenhurst.com so we can work together to ensure that all women who so desire are able to attend.
