Sunday Morning - 11 a.m. Worship Service

  • Calvary Baptist Church - Gravenhurst 185 Brock St Gravenhurst Canada (map)

All are welcome to join us in our Sunday morning worship services!

We meet on Sunday mornings as a part of our regular worship as a community. For many people, this is their first interaction with our church in a formal sense - and we want you to feel completely welcomed! We have 2 Worship Services, one starting at 9 a.m. one at 11 a.m.. This Sunday we will have all ages worshipping together in the sanctuary for both services, so that our Children’s Ministry workers can participate in training during both services.

Our worship services generally last just over an hour. We usually start with a greeting from the Worship Leader for the service, who also points out announcements that are important; then we have a time of singing before the pastor teaches the congregation. Elders and pastors are available to pray with you after the service if you desire. Please use the information below to prepare for Sunday morning. If you have any questions, you can reach out to us here

TEACHING

At Calvary our desire is always to have God at the centre of our teaching. He is the centre of the gospel, the centre of the Bible and it is our desire that He would be the centre of our lives as well.

We desire to be faithful in teaching the Word of God in a way that is gospel focused, points people to Christ and brings glory to God. We also desire to teach people what God says about how we should live, knowing that as Creator and King of the universe His pattern for living is right and good for our lives.

We accomplish these goals by alternating between series that teach through books of the bible verse by verse and series that are topical and grounded in God’s Word.

PRAYER

At Calvary corporate prayer is another essential element of our worship services. We believe strongly in the power of prayer and we have witnessed the faithfulness of God in prayer over and over again.

MUSIC STYLE

We're a church that believes in multi-generational worship, and so you'll find a mix of modern worship songs and some traditional hymns at our services. Our primary focus through musical worship is preparing our hearts to let God teach us, and so no matter what style the song, we make sure that it points us towards Him.

CHILDREN

At the 11 a.m. service, there are no children’s ministries provided, but children are welcome to worship in the sanctuary with their parents. There will be activity sheets available, and sermon notes to help children engage with the sermon.
Newborns:  Newborns are more than welcome in our worship services. Let our usher know if you'd prefer to sit at the back of the church, and we'll make sure you have a place.

DRESS CODE

We don't have a specific dress code for Sunday mornings, but most people usually wear long pants and a nice shirt. No matter how you dress, know that you are welcome at our church.

COMMUNION

Part of Jesus' teaching in the Bible is to remember His sacrifice on the cross through the act of communion. Believers around the world gather to do this, some on a weekly basis, some less regularly. Currently at Calvary we share in communion several times a month. There is also a gluten-free option available for those who need it.

OFFERING

Part of our worship of God is giving back a portion of what He has given us. Our regular members and attendees can do this in several different ways, including placing an offering in the offering box on Sunday morning, or giving online. Click here for more information about different options for giving to Calvary. If you're new to Calvary or just visiting, please don't feel any pressure to give. Please consider our worship service our gift to you.
